Prof. Pratibha V Gaonkar

Prof. Pratibha Gaonkar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at AITM, Bhatkal, where she combines a strong academic foundation with a passion for sustainable infrastructure development and innovation in civil engineering education. With a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and professional service, Prof. Pratibha strives to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical engineering applications.

Prof. Pratibha holds a M.Tech in Environmental Engineering , specializing in Water and wastewater Engineering, OSHA, Sustainable Development Goal. During her academic journey, she developed a strong interest in designing resilient structures, optimizing construction materials, and integrating sustainability principles into civil engineering practices.

At AITM , Prof. Pratibha teaches core courses such as Engineering Geology, Water Supply and Wastewater Engineering, Concrete Technology, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Development Goal and Non Conventional Source . She emphasizes a learner-centered teaching approach that encourages critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration among students. Through project-based learning and real-world case studies, she inspires students to apply engineering principles to solve contemporary challenges in infrastructure development.

Prof. Pratibha’s research interests include sustainable construction materials, water and wastewater treatment, climate-resilient infrastructure. She has published several papers in reputed national and international journals and has actively participated in academic conferences and workshops. She also engages in consultancy and collaborative projects with industry partners to provide practical engineering solutions that align with sustainability goals and smart city initiatives.

Beyond academics, prof.Pratibha is actively involved in mentoring students and organizing technical events, workshops, and training programs aimed at enhancing professional skills and promoting innovation. She believes that civil engineers have a profound responsibility to design infrastructure that not only meets present needs but also safeguards resources for future generations.
