Dr. Padmayya S Naik

I have completed Ph.D. degree from prestigious NITK, Surathkal. Currently, I hold the position of Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, a role I assumed on May 1, 2014. Over the course of my 29 years of dedicated service, I have had the privilege of serving in diverse capacities, effectively carrying out the responsibilities assigned to me by higher authorities. I have successfully obtained both my Ph.D. and MTech. degrees from the prestigious National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. Additionally, I hold a B.E. degree from Dharwad university Karnataka (AEC, BHATKAL). I have authored over 29 research papers (10 Scopus indexed & all are peer reviewed) in renowned journals such as Elsevier, Springer, and Wiley etc. Additionally, I have presented more than 20 papers at reputable national and international conferences hosted by institutions like IISc and IITs. I've actively participated in more than 15 workshops and training sessions across various institutes and industries. As a member of three professional bodies, my research interests include Materials engineering, composites materials, carbon-carbon composites and temperature control in vehicles etc. As a research scholar I have contributed significantly towards the successful completion of a major research project to tune of Rs. 21.78 Lakh funded by DRDO, Hyderabad Centre. I've supervised three KSCST student projects approved by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology and other 18 UG & 2 M.TEH. projects. Recently, two students completed and awarded their Ph.D. (19-11-2023 & 11-06-2025) under my guidance and three more are pursued under me. A valid patent was published in the year 2023. I also appointed as a co-guide for research activities in Manipal University Manipal, UDUPI. With a total of 30 years of experience, including 19 years at AITM Bhatkal, 10 years in polytechnic as a lecturer, senior lecturer and in charge HOD for three years, one year of industrial experience, and 1 year as an Assistant Professor & HOD at Moodlakatte Institute of Technology Kundapura (MIT), Karnataka.
